Wimberley in April...what a treat! And now you have the chance to run and walk along some of the most scenic stretches of this hidden, Hill Country gem. If you've been to Wimberley you know its charm. If not, now you have a great, multi-purpose reason to visit!
Past Wimberley 4 events have been scored as a “great events” by all in attendance. The 2012 version should be bigger and better! The W4 is one of those special events you return to year after year...a great event, great course, great music, great volunteers, great cause and great Texas Hill Country ambiance. After the Wimberley 4, take a stroll through the village shops on "the Square", full of wonderful local art and special, one-of-a-kind gifts. The Wimberley Valley Art League’s 5th Annual Arts Fest will be taking place from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. in the Square. Enjoy art, music and lots of great food as well as taking in the scenery along the banks of beautiful Cypress Creek. Why not make a weekend of it and treat yourself to a Wimberley sunset from one of the many Bed & Breakfast Inns in the area?
4 Mile Run/Walk Course
Start Time - 8:30 a.m.
You are going to love this route! The 4 Mile course is a beautiful loop course starting at Wimberley High School on the west side of town. From the High School the course heads straight into the Village on FM 2325. In the middle of town the course will then turn right onto River Road, named for the fact that it runs parallel along the beautiful Blanco River. The course turns right onto Wayside Drive and right again onto scenic Green Acres Road, for the country road section of the course as it heads back to finish with a "victory lap" in Texan Stadium. 3K Fitness Walk Course
Start Time - 8:35 a.m.
A great little loop course that follows the 4 Mile Course along FM 2325 toward town before turning right onto the other end of Green Acres Road, then joins the 4 Mile Course before heading into Texan Stadium. It's a great course for the 'little ones' or folks not up to the longer course.
Race Support
Plenty of volunteers will staff and support your efforts from start to finish. Expect to find two aid stations along the four mile route for plenty of hydration opportunities. You may even be surprised to find music along the route like you'd expect in a longer marathon event! Course safety will be provided by Hays County sheriff's deputies and local constables. Wimberley EMS staff will also be on hand along the route in case they are needed.
Post Event Entertainment
After the event, participants can enjoy refreshments donated by our great sponsors. Overall Awards will be presented at approximately 9:45 AM.
Kick back, relax and enjoy Sugar Bayou - impeccable instrumentation infused with folk, bluegrass, jazz, blues and Cajun traditions (and a touch of Texas rockin’ country). A great way to celebrate Wimberley in April.
There will also be various event sponsors and vendors on hand at the finish line so be sure to check them out.
